Note to Reader:

“I’m Walking” is a category of my blog where I jot down personal lessons that I’ve learned as I walk with my Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Life is never constant, but thankfully God is. Hebrews 13:8 says, “Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever.” The more I get to know God’s character, through the Bible and prayer, the more my faith grows… all the while I’m taking notes along the way. I often jot down excerpts from other authors, notes from church services, and most importantly scripture from God’s word so that I can draft them into a concise format to refer to later. Originally, I compiled these notes for my own use, but it occurred to me that perhaps others may find my notes helpful as well. Thus, I humbly present my notes to you, hoping that they may offer even a little insight. With love, Ashley.

DAILY RENEWAL (PRAYER):

Prayer DVDA few months ago some of the women from my Bible study group and I met together to watch a video featuring Beth Moore. It was an older video entitled, “A Woman’s Prayer Life”.

There were several pertinent points to take away from this message on prayer, but one that I found especially impactful touched on the concept of renewing our minds daily in the Lord…fixing our mind and heart on God and His Word.

Prayer is such a powerful privilege. Stormie Omartian once wrote: “The power of prayer is unlimited because it’s God’s power, not ours. If our words release God’s power to change people’s hearts, bring down spiritual strongholds, or build up nations, then we are participating in the most potent force in the universe.”

I encourage us all to continually pray throughout our day so that we may stay in constant communion with God. The notes I’ve included below simply offer one suggestion of what we may use to start our day and renew ourselves in the Lord. 🙂 As with any posts from my “I’m Walking” category, I’ve humbly included my notes below. I hope they encourage your prayer life as well.

[Notes from my Journal…]

.

1.)    Go to God FIRST to satisfy my soul & to fulfill my heart and needs.

Psalm 63: 1-8 (HCSB)

“God, You are my God; I eagerly seek You.

I thirst for You; my body faints for You in a land that is dry and desolate, and without water.

So I gaze on You in the sanctuary to see Your strength and Your glory.

My lips will glorify You because Your faithful love is better than life.

So I will praise You as long as I live; at Your name, I will lift up my hands.

You satisfy me as with rich food; my mouth will praise You with joyful lips.

When I think of You as I lie on my bed, I meditate on You during the night watches because You are my helper; I will rejoice in the shadow of Your wings.

I follow close to You; Your right hand holds on to me.

.

2.)    Begin day with prayer. Pour out my heart to God (my hurts, my needs, the false things in my life, etc.) so that I will have room for God to fill my heart.

Psalm 5:3 (NKJV)

“My voice you shall hear in the morning, O Lord, in the morning I will direct it to you, and I will look up.

.

Renew our heart daily in Christ because if our hearts are not fully devoted to Christ, our hearts will mislead us.

Isaiah 44:20 (NASB)

“He feeds on ashes; a deceived heart has turned him aside [led him astray]. And he cannot deliver himself, nor say, ‘Is there not a lie [idol] in my right hand?’”

         Colossians 3:15 (NASB)

Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, to which indeed you were called in one body; and be thankful.”

(See also Jeremiah 17:5,9 and Deuteronomy 11:16)

.

3.)    Ask God to fill me up with Him—to satisfy my soul… and not just the bare minimum. Ask God to thrill my heart! Delight me! Show me His glory! Lord, I pray—please give me a supernatural love to love You, Lord. Thank You that You have set Your unfailing love on me, Lord, because Your love is better than life (Psalm 63:3). Lord, satisfy me with Your unfailing love so that I may shout with joy and be glad all my days (Psalm 90:14).

Psalm 90:14

“Satisfy us in the morning with Your faithful love, so that we may shout with joy and be glad all our days.”

.

4.)    Let God fill my heart (fulfill me/my needs). Let us not rush to the world or others to fulfill us. Don’t expect others to be able to do what only God can.

.

I hope these notes help you too. Stay encouraged, and continue to stay in God’s word. May God bless you.

With love,

Ashley

  1. Thanks for being confirmation! When we rely on God by putting Him first, He never lets us down! It’s so awesome to live relating with other like-minded believers! You are such a blessing, thanks!
